Sports and recreation enthusiasts have something in common - their love of the great outdoors! The Hayward Lakes Area is located in Sawyer County, WI, home of 55,000 acres of lakes, 300,000 acres of forestland, and countless miles of rivers. The Hayward Area is a sports and recreation mecca that offers not only world-class fishing but year-round enjoyment for everyone.

From the 858,400 acre Chequamegon National Forest and historic Hayward Lakes Area fishing waters, Hayward offers year round world class events like the American Birkebeiner, which is the largest North American cross county ski race, the Lumberjack World Championships, the Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival, and of course our annual Musky Festival.
